Sew your own messenger bag

In the summer of 2020 I opened a second product line at Filucry®. In addition to the physical products, the first digital product has been available since then: a pattern + detailed step-by-step instructions.


In the last few years I have been able to expand my sewing knowledge by making many products and now I would like to pass some of this knowledge on to you.


As a sewing beginner you often find a lot of instructions for quick and easy projects. But at some point you come to the point that you would like to sew something "more complex" or "more difficult", but you don't really know how to proceed, because you don't want to create a pattern yourself or you don't get ahead with an existing instruction.


My aim is to explain self-created and tested patterns for more complex projects in such detail that you can sew them even with little sewing experience. The only thing you need to know is how to operate a sewing machine, i.e. how to change the upper and lower thread, how to change a needle or presser foot etc. and that you can sew a halfway straight seam.


You will learn certain "sewing terms" intuitively as you work through the instructions. In general I try to express the steps more colloquially so that you can understand everything without problems. After all, I want you to have fun sewing and not be held up by complicated descriptions.


The practical thing about sewing accessories is that they are usually quite friendly fabrics. Firm fabrics that are not stretchy, can be cut and sewn easily. Sewing a zip into a bag is not as complicated as it might look at first glance.

Combining different materials can sometimes be a test of patience. But with a few simple tricks and knacks, many problems can be solved quickly.


Whenever there is a "secret trick", you will find it described in the instructions and can then use it for future projects.
